In my sketchbook I did a few coloured sketches of what the layouts could possibly look like for my centre page spread, in relation to those sketches I came up with these today on Photoshop.
This one I liked in my sketch, but when I actually did it I thought it looked awful. Not what I am looking for at all. Tacky and bad colour combination |
This one is very simple, I like simple but this one is too simple. Leaflet like rather than magazine pages. |
I wanted to make the images included in the magazine more interesting and modern so I took my previous idea of the white overdrawing from the disclosure album cover. I drew lines over the most important parts of the image. I think it looks awesome and works well for the target market of 18 - 30 year olds. |
In my eyes, that is a perfect image layout. Neat and simple but not basic. |
I don't think the heading stood out well enough in lower case letters so I changed that, also made the placing of the heading more interesting. I tried to avoid random placing so I lined the word dump with the image, I like the way it looks now. |
Obviously had to add some text, I made some of it orange and some of it black, the black represents the important bit of the text. Baring in mind that black part can be places at the start of the text, in the middle or wherever the important bit is. That is to make it look dominant and to focus the reader. |
The text works better here, I like the overlay effect, it looks edgy and fits well, plus it gives me more space for additional features on the right page where that stuff is more suitable due to the white empty space. |
To keep the NEW magazine up to date I thought it would be good to include that video link in it, make some use of smartphones - that again is in relation to target market and the magazine being a new magazine.
I am happy with this outcome so far. |
