Feeling like I'm stuck in a loop
Desperately trying to take it further, thinking more deeply about creating meaning in the use of double exposure.

Mood changes - bipolar/ uppers+downers. I like the composition of how the dominant image is happening in the right bottom corner and theres a lot of black space above. |

Cat movement. Bottom image is slightly blurred, the ear on top of the nose is giving a light focal point of both exposures. |

Same picture. Layers, slightly moved upwards. Hallucinating impression of an ecstasy trip when you see double/triple/quadruple |

Hallucinating, slight movement. Eyes like starts - like on acid |

Sleep paralysis and out of body experiences |
Final illustration... hopefully...
(In my sketchbook everything is annotated)

Donald threw out a herring; as soon as he threw it, the mermaid went under. |
Development and a potential final poster
Changing my mind really late in the Information Graphics unit has it's consequences. I feel it's the only thing I am able to concentrate on and put effort into so that I can make it as good as I possibly can, with all the time loss I have extra pressure on me but I am getting there.

Simple approach - type over photo. I really don't like this one, I think it's the type with serifs it really pisses me off. |

Black and white to make it slightly more sad |
boots and cats
I edited this one to create a slight blur for a more interesting dominant image of the fabric rather than the cat> makes it feel like Olly is the background. |
Different compositions |
Portrait of Anna being herself with lots of colourful layers on. |
I was thinking about depth of field and how it would turn out if I made the part that's the closest out of focus and background in focus. Different, but I'm not too sure. |
The opposite, I like this one - the plant at the front looks much warmer than the background plants. |
3 layers of blue |
I've always hated winter but now that I have a camera I actually kinda like it.

Lovely frost this morning!! Of course I couldn't help myself and create a double exposure of it. |

Again, but 1 image is upside down. |

Frost shot, amazing colour contrast with the warm colours at the top and really cool frosty colours at the bottom. |

The dramatic light in my bedroom in the winter time gives me almost studio space in my won room, beautiful shadows. |
typeface portraits for racism poster.
I had a slight epiphany yesterday to do with information graphics unit, I was sure I had it all under control and I was ahead of time - in my head I knew what my poster was going to look like. I was so wrong, I was doing something that wasn't really an interest and had nothing to do with me. I felt the need to get slightly personal so I thought about my nationality and it's stereotypes along with the British and how they can be racist towards the polish and why, I wrote many things down in my sketchbook with a million ideas a minute, then somehow I thought about how strong typography can be.
I was going to have offensive words towards Poles that the British have said in the past - but to have a stronger effect I was going to write them in Polish, in the shape of the words "GO HOME" - still want to try that idea, but then I thought of using a portrait and making it out of typography. After a very long 2 hours of trying to figure it out - kind of got it, but it is still not as good as I would like it to be.

This one I made using a very simple approach - not successful. I changed a portrait of Dominika (makes sense because she is Polish) into black and white then created a slight vignette with the brush tool, then I put type over her face and changed opacity to 50% and put it under the layer of the brush tool. It looks very amateur so I am not going to do it that way. |
double exp exp
Thinking about the size of my final photographs, I don't know what they will be yet, I would like to chose an appropriate size and to do that I will have to see what works. To try that out I would like to print these two images off in A1 as I think they would have an incredible effect at large scale rather than ordinary A4 or 6 x 4 photos.
Floating
In order to mimic some other photographers, I set myself a challenge of trying out Bill Henson's floating girl photograph. It took me almost all day to get it to work, but eventually I came up with a result that I am happy with.

This is the original photograph, I fell in love with it straight away when looking at Bill Henson's photography, I thought that I should try and copy this so I can have my very own version. |

Took a different picture and applied the same process, this time I used a photo of the moon that I took, I thought this was a little better but I wanted something more. |
this girl is my muse
I guess I am kind of getting the hang of studio portrait photography, although at the start I felt limited without the tripod I think I managed well without it.
That perfect side profile |
Utilising light to really define the profile of the face, I think these are really good. |
Using hands to create more shadows and creases. This one is interesting with the finger on the left being hardly visible. |
Nice shadows on left hand side. |
the look of enlightenment. Love it how u can juuuuust see the hair a tiny bit. |
Little closer. |
The involvement of hands within the face makes really interesting composition and really enhances the eyes. Love this one. |
Same but more posey, felt kind of like a fashion photographer and director today. |
I tried to mimic Jacob Aue Sobol - I will edit these on photoshop for a better result. |
Thinking more dramatic for more interesting images. |
I got her to wear a turtleneck in aim of creating a really dark background so only face and hands are visible - she looks like the moon hahaha |
I like this one, the shadowing is really subtle. |
The positioning of the hands makes really nice highlights on the knuckles that go nicely with the face highlights. |
Thinking about contrast between the background and top. |
Hands are a really good thing to photograph - very nice shadows and I like the strong highlight on the two nails on right hand side, but I wish it was only on one. |
