Steven Meisel. Photography Report

American fashion photographer, gained popularity and critical acclaim by shooting with US and Italian vogue and photographs of friend Madonna in her 1992 book Sex.

Fashion photography is something I don't really know enough about. I feel that it's important for the photographers to be as professional as there is, because in the end they are dealing with celebrities too so they should capture them the best way, but that's when my confusion comes in. Is it about the photographer or the model?? The model is a celebrity and the photographer is the artist, can the decide how the photo is taken or is it the model that decides how they want to look? I just don't get it. It's so much different with live drawing because you are the artist and the model is no celebrity to you, you ask them how to sit, pose and you draw them how you like...

These photo's are great, the first one I love the shadows on her body, hair and on the wall, it's like the fundamental background that makes her look powerful, because she is giving out all these shadows, makes her look strong and at the same time fragile and sexually appealing.
