I feel so privileged to be able to study in such a beautiful area, have the chance to base a whole project on the area of river Dee and Stewart's island.
I have tried taking more interesting photographs for this rather than just pretty landscapes, I felt very much at home in this area and it's definitely changed my way of thinking and my mood in general. I love it down there, finding a peaceful place in the city is so important. I sat there in silence with my eyes closed just listening to all the sounds, it still sounded like a city due to cars - the dee road is right across the other side of the river and planes every 5 minutes landing at the local airport. But apart from that it's amazing to be able to listen to birds, wind and the water flow, I truly took living in a small village for granted.

We got told to spend the afternoon in the forest/ island area drawing, taking photo's or whatever, me and a girl in my course, Verity, decided to do something more site-specific and build a house with anything that was around. Actually had such a fun time, I'm going to do stuff like this more often! I have looked a lot at Andy Goldsworthy around this project and I feel very inspired by him right now.
