Been looking at the 1980's for one of my decades in surface pattern, I looked at the most popular music from the charts around that time. 'Eye of the Tiger' by survivor was one of them, that's a very well known song, it brings quite a visual image into mind - A tiger eye. Got a picture online of a tiger and worked from that to create a pattern on Photoshop, below screenshots of the steps I took to create pattern.

I used magnetic tool to roughly select the eye, I didn't want it to be neat as I knew I wanted it to turn out quite abstract. |
On a new document I then repeatedly pasted the eye vertically to mess it up a bit, influenced by George Baselitz's works of art, also from the 1980s which were done upside-down. |
I then messed about with colours and cut out random shapes using magnetic tool and displaced them to create something out of control. |
This is what I came up with in the end. |
Be careful with those crazy tigers!
